Norway made radio history in 2017 as the first country to switch off its national FM network, moving wholesale to DAB. Public broadcaster NRK dominates with P1's mainstream mix, P2's culture, and P3's youth programming, while P4 and Radio Norge lead the commercial side. Norwegian is the air language, with Sámi broadcasts via NRK Sápmi, and pop, rock, and the country's black-metal-to-pop breadth flavor music output.
