Eritrea Radio Stations

Eritrea permits no independent media whatsoever — every broadcast originates from the state. Dimtsi Hafash, the Voice of the Broad Masses, transmits in Tigrinya, Tigre, Arabic and other national languages, continuing a station lineage that began clandestinely during the independence war. Guayla dance music and krar lyre traditions feature in cultural programming, while exile radio stations run by the diaspora broadcast alternative news back into the country via shortwave and satellite.
