Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha share one of the world's most isolated broadcasting landscapes. On Saint Helena, SAMS Radio 1 and community broadcasting keep Jamestown and the districts informed with the island's distinctive Saint dialect on air, while Ascension carries relays including the BBC Atlantic Relay station that has beamed shortwave across two oceans since 1966. Tristan, the remotest inhabited island on earth, has its own tiny station for a few hundred islanders.
