Latvijas Radio, broadcasting from Riga since 1925, runs news-driven LR1, pop-focused LR2 with its Latvian-music remit, and cultural and Russian-language channels serving the country's linguistic mix. Commercial leader Radio SWH and Star FM battle for music audiences. Latvia's identity as a singing nation, home of the massive Song Festival tradition, shows in choral programming and a strong quota of Latvian-language pop on air.
